Enthusiasm - What For?

By Connie Cantillo

Do you know why people take the time to listen to you? Or maybe you have noticed that people make excuses not to be around you or they need to suddenly hang up on you? The secret is in what your listener perceives from you – not necessarily what you are saying. Let me explain it to you in very simple words.

Enthusiasm is Catchy:
Having enthusiasm when you talk or write about your family, yourself or your business is key for your listener to want to hear more. It catches your listener’s attention – drawing him or her to you. It is important that you smile when you are talking even if it is through the phone. I guarantee that the person on the other end does “see” that smile through your conversation. This is true as well when you write. If you smile when you write your copy it will translate into the words you are writing, so the message reaches your readers with the same enthusiasm. Hard to believe, but it’s true.

Enthusiasm is Contagious:
Have you noticed that when you carry enthusiasm in your message the response you get from your listener is enthusiastic? That’s because enthusiasm is contagious. The words you say are so full of energy and belief that your listener or reader perceives these feelings from you. He or she is automatically drawn to you and wants to listen closely because he or she believes what you say.

Enthusiasm is Positive Energy:
Have you noticed that when you are enthusiastic you glow with positivism? That’s because enthusiasm is a feeling full of positive energy. There is nothing negative about being enthusiastic. Positive energy attracts positive results (Law of Attraction). People can’t help but to respond positively to your words. They accept what you are saying with much more confidence. They allow you to lead them.

Enthusiasm is KLT:
What is KLT? Know, Like and Trust. When people are caught or engaged in your conversation, they start to know you. As they know you, they start to like you and finally your positive energy will give them the trust they need to continue listening and following you. You are now the expert. They want to hear more from you.

Enthusiasm is a Money Maker:
I guess by now you know why Enthusiasm is a Money Maker, right? When people Know, Like and Trust you they have no problem in hiring your services or buying your products. Your enthusiasm has created this path. Don’t expect it to happen immediately. Some people need more time and information than others to finally get to know, like and trust you. Just be persistent with enthusiasm!

Love what you do and do what you love, it really pays off!!

  1. Connie,

Excellent post! Reminds me of a book I recently read called Words That Work(Its Not What You Say, It's What People Hear) Its about considering the listeners perception as you are writing and speaking. This is all very good advice for marketing our businesses and building relationships. The feeling you are transmitting out is what will boomerang back. Thanks!
